LMA announces 2015 Board election results

The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has announced the six successful candidates in this year’s election for membership of the Board.

Effective from today (12 May 2015), the newly elected Board members are:

Andrew Brooks, CEO, Ascot Underwriting
Stephen Eccles, Active Underwriter, Travelers Syndicate Management
Richard Harries, CEO, Atrium Underwriters
Andrew McMellin, Chief Executive - UK & Ireland, XL Catlin
Matthew Shaw, Active Underwriter, ACE Underwriting Agencies
Michael Watson, CEO, Canopius Managing Agents

All six will serve a term of three years. Rupert Atkin, CEO, Talbot Underwriting Ltd, will continue as Chairman of the LMA.

Offering his congratulations to the successful candidates, David Gittings, the LMA’s Chief Executive, said: “Thank you to everyone who stood for election and many congratulations to those elected to take a seat on the LMA’s Board. We’ve had a high level of interest from the market allowing us to benefit from Board members whose combined knowledge and experience is an invaluable asset to the LMA. Our Board is highly influential in the Lloyd’s market, offering a broad range of perspectives, and representing over £15.5bn (60%) of overall market capacity.”

Elections take place each year when one third of the Board’s elected members stand down. This year, eight candidates stood for elected vacancies. Voting closed on Thursday 30 April.
