Gemini - Expert Management and Fee Settlement System

Gemini is the market-conceived initiative to deliver managing agents with clear visibility on how often they use claims experts and what it costs them, allowing them to make informed decisions on expert management. It also delivers a significant saving against other market established fee payment services. From January 2022, the transactional charge for any fee payment via Gemini is just £15, which is split across subscribers on a bureau placement.

Gemini is live, and ready for the market to adopt. There are already 17 managing agents using the service, with several more lined up to go live in the next month or so.

There are two main methods to adoption. These are via an API integration, already live with the Charles Taylor and DOCOsoft systems, or via a batch extract process, which mirrors the fully automated API process, but has a different ingestion method in to Gemini. This is already live for Charles Taylor and DOCOsoft, and we are in discussion with Sequel & Guidewire to offer this functionality shortly. The batch extract works for Lloyd’s ILU & LIRMA, so there really is no major barrier to adoption now.

We have created a five-minute instructional video that talks a claims adjuster through the Gemini process, i.e. what they have to do to instigate the Gemini process once their MA has taken Gemini. The worked example demonstrates the process using Brit and their TRAX platform. This video (which will shortly be joined by other adoption material including a market best practice document, Gemini user guides for both managing agents and Experts, and an adoption Q&A document) can be found on the LIMOSS website.

There are also a number of planned enhancements for Gemini in 2022 which will allow more fees to be processed via the platform. These include an API to allow fee billing firms to interact seamlessly with Gemini to effect payment to the experts who’s fees they have negotiated.
