Data Protection

In order to provide services to our members and the Lloyd’s and London insurance market generally, The Lloyd's Market Association (LMA) needs to process (including collecting, storing and using) certain personal data, which would typically include names, job titles and contact details of relevant individuals.

The relevant individuals include the employees of: LMA members, their associated companies and contractors, Lloyd’s corporation, market service providers and other market organisations. The individuals typically are members and attendees of LMA committees, working groups and other market groups (LMA committees); attend events, presentations, seminars and training programmes (LMA events); or are otherwise involves in LMA services and activities.

The personal data of relevant individuals would normally be provided by our members and other firms and organisations described above or by the individuals themselves.

Why do we process personal data?

We process personal data in order to provide services to our members and the Lloyd’s and London insurance market generally and in particular to organise and support LMA committees and LMA events.

Marketing

The LMA also uses personal data to inform members and relevant individuals about LMA events. Should you not wish to receive emails or other communications from us, you can opt-out by emailing optout@lmalloyds.com.

Our grounds for processing personal data

We rely on the legal grounds of ‘Performance of a contract’ and ‘Legitimate interests’ to process personal data in order to further the interests of our members. 

Other than as required by law or a relevant regulatory authority we will not disclose your personal data to any third party without your permission. We retain personal data in accordance with our data protection policy. The usual recipients of personal data are LMA committees, the organisers and presenters of LMA events, and our service providers.

Your rights

If you have any questions in relation to our use of your personal data, you should first contact our data protection contact (contact details below). Subject to certain conditions, you have the following rights in respect of your personal data:

  • to receive a copy of the personal data that you have provided to us;
  • to correct any inaccuracies in the personal data we hold or to request erasure;
  • to object to any processing based on the legitimate interests ground; and
  • to restrict how we use your personal data whilst any complaint is being investigated.

In certain circumstances, we may need to restrict the above rights (e.g. to maintain legal privilege).
