How can I find out about the LMA Academy?

What is the LMA Academy framework?
The LMA Academy framework comprises of four academies focusing on functional roles within the insurance industry. Each academy provides a suite of offerings aligned to a pathway. The pathways comprise of a series of levels of knowledge allowing for ease of access to learning aligned to role level and experience. 

How can I find out what events are scheduled and when?
The 2023 Curriculum schedule is listed on the LMA Academy page. You can also see what events are scheduled and when in the LMA Virtual Academy.

Where can I find the 2023 Event Curriculum?

LMA Virtual Academy

What is the LMA Virtual Academy?
The Virtual Academy is an online learning platform providing members with access to over 550 courses, including technical insurance content as well as modules on business skills, video sessions on wellbeing and Microsoft Office tutorials. The Virtual Academy is also where members can view the Academy curriculums and register to attend one of our Academy events.

How do I access online content in the LMA Virtual Academy?
All LMA members will have access to the Virtual Academy to browse online content and to register to attend live virtual events. A license is required to undertake the online learning. A license is £125 + VAT per user for 12 months and can be purchased through the Virtual Academy  or via the LMA Academy page.

Can anyone access LMA Virtual Academy?
Only LMA full members can access the Virtual Academy.

Is there a charge to use the LMA Virtual Academy?

How much does an LMA Virtual Academy licence cost?
£125 + VAT per user, valid for 12 months from the date you first log on.

Where can I purchase an LMA Virtual Academy licence?
A licence can be purchased through the Virtual Academy or via the LMA Academy page.

How do I get a receipt for the payment of my LMA Virtual Academy fee?
You will receive an email which provides payment details and confirmation.

Can I access the LMA Virtual Academy via a mobile device?
Yes, log on the same as you would from a PC or laptop.

How long do I have access to my purchased content?
You have 12 months from the date you first log on to the LMA Virtual Academy

LMA Academy Events

How do I register to attend an event?
Registration is done via the Virtual Academy. On the Virtual Academy Homepage, click on the ‘Find Learning’ portlet and then select ‘LMA Academy Curriculum’. Locate the event within the respective Academy and select ‘Register Me’ to enrol onto the event. You can also use the search field to locate an event or via the calendar on the ‘Event’ portlet.

What happens if I can’t attend an event I’m registered on?
You can cancel your attendance through the My Activities portlet on the homepage of the Virtual Academy. Please check the Cancellation Terms for more information on refunds.

Where can I find more information on an event?
Visit the Virtual Academy and locate the event within the relevant Academy curriculum. Each event includes information such as event outline, learning objectives, date, time, registration details. 

When will I receive joining instructions?
Joining instructions will be sent to registered participants approximately two weeks prior to the event. Zoom and/or Teams information will be included in this email.

How can I add myself to a waitlist?
If an event on the Virtual Academy shows as ‘Fully Booked’ you can request to be added to the waitlist by emailing the LMA Academy at Apply@lmalloyds.com

Logon & Passwords

What are my logon credentials?
You access the Virtual Academy via the  LMA Academy page. Use your LMA sign-in credentials, or create an account if you don’t already have one.  

What if I have forgotten my password for the LMA website?
You can self-serve a password reset from the login page.

Who do I contact if any questions?
Contact the LMA Academy team at Apply@lmalloyds.com.

Refunds & Cancellations

What are the Cancellation Terms?
Cancellations made 15+ working days before the event – full refund of event fee or option to transfer to an alternative event.
Cancellations made 1-15 working days before the event – unable to transfer to an alternative event. No refund permitted unless the event place is occupied and paid for by a suitable participant from the same managing agent.
No refunds or transfers will be given for non-attendance.

I am leaving my company; do I get a refund on the number of months left on my licence?
No, your licence is linked to your employer and you won’t receive any refund if you’ve accessed content.

I no longer need my licence; can I transfer it to another employee in my company?
No, licences cannot be transferred between employees.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Can I download my CPD record from the LMA Virtual Academy?
Yes, there is an export option available within the CPD Log portlet on the homepage.

How do I log my own CPD on the LMA Virtual Academy?
Learning or events attended via the Virtual Academy will automatically appear in the CPD Log portlet on the homepage. You can also import or add additional CPD information.
