Marine Committee
The LMA Marine Committee is the senior marine committee, normally comprising ten elected members plus the senior Lloyd’s representative from each of the Joint Committees. It meets every other month.
If there is an issue you wish to raise at this committee or any of the Joint Committees, please contact either a member of the committee or the secretary.
Important Issues
Baltimore Bridge Collapse
The Dali’s tragic collision with the Francis Scott Key bridge illustrates how quickly events can unfold. It is too early to determine all the reasons behind the accident itself but it was fortunate that a warning was issued and that the impact also occurred when the bridge was less busy. For their part, insurers and brokers will be working together to respond as efficiently as possible.
Red Sea
The situation remains dynamic but transits are continuing, albeit at a reduced volume
Black Sea
The successor to the grain corridor is operating successfully and for now, the area is relatively stable
Sanctions
Revised sanctions clauses (LMA3100A and LMA3200) have been released and are available on the Lloyd's Repository
Sustainability
There are many initiatives in play, not least the IMO's decarbonization targets for shipping. As part of that, one of the IMO's main priorities this year is to examine the characteristics of the various alternative fuels.
LMA Marine Forums
The forums provide an opportunity for the Joint Chairs to update the market on the wide range of work being undertaken by the Joint Committees. If any underwriter would like an issue raised at Committee level, please let either the relevant Chairman or secretary know.
