Attempting Everest the harder way - set audacious personal challenges, learn and adapt from failure
Monday 17 June 2019
16.00 - 17.00, Old Library, Lloyd’s, London EC3M 7HA
Nick Talbot, CEO, IVSC
How to set yourself bold challenges, not be afraid of failure, overcome problems and manage stress by keeping things in perspective.
Nick has a life-threatening condition called cystic fibrosis. It almost killed him twice as a child and at age 13 his parents were told he only had three years left to live. Nick overcame personal challenges to take on Everest only to be there for the worst two natural disasters in history from which he barely survived. Listen to his personal account and footage and see how he fared in the face of adversity.
This session will entail a humorous look at living life with this condition and taking on challenges to raise money and the profile for cystic fibrosis charities.
You will learn how to set yourself bold challenges, not be afraid of failure, overcome problems, manage stress by keeping things in perspective and manage risks.
The target audience is anyone who wants to get the most out of their career or life, from people new to the workforce through to managing directors.
Nick Talbot is Chief Executive of a city-based organisation called IVSC which sets the global approach to valuation. In his spare time he raises money and profile for CF charities through unusual challenges and speeches across the world. He is a well-known public speaker and has received accolades varying from the serious to the amusing such as the ‘Points of Light award’ from the Prime Minister through to ‘top 50 North Easterners’ and ‘Balls of Steel’ from radio show host Johnny Vaughan.
