DESCRIPTION
The Joint Specie Committee (JSC) will be hosting an in-person Education Forum on Tuesday 12 November at 09.30 in the Old Library at Lloyd’s.
Agenda
The forum will include a committee overview by the JSC Chair, Giles Coghlin (Head of Fine Art & Specie, Everest) and will also include the following three presentations on:
- Vicky Chafen (Detective Inspector, Metropolitan Police) in the Counter Terrorism Command who are the national lead for combatting terrorist financing risks to the UK, including via regulated sectors and Sophie Hayes (Detective Constable | Metropolitan Police) in the Art and Antiques Unit (AAU) on terrorist financing and organised crime operating within the London art market. The AAU specialises in investigating cultural heritage crimes committed in London, including the burglary of art and antiques; international cultural property theft; fraud; and money laundering. The Met are presenting to specie practitioners as the market plays a key role in the insurance of high-value fine art and specie.
- David Guest (Political Violence Underwriter, SCOR) on Strikes, Riots and Civil Commotion (SRCC). What is happening? Why is it happening now? And what does the future look like?
- International Convention of Exhibition and Fine Art Transporters (ICEFAT) is a global, democratic network of trusted partnerships. Founded in 1977, ICEFAT is the oldest, largest and most involved art logistics organisation at the forefront of innovation and standardisation in art services, promoting the highest standards in fine art shipping.
A presentation on ICEFAT Standards will be given by Peter Elsaesser (Chief Executive Officer, MuseumsPartner), Simon Hornby (Senior Vice President, Europe and Asia, Crozier Fine Arts) and Oliver Howell (Managing Director, Gander & White Shipping).
