Mel Goddard – Market Liaison Director

Mel is responsible for high-level market liaison with the underwriting community, dealing with market-wide issues as they arise. Mel is also responsible for the relationship between the LMA underwriting team and Lloyd’s, particularly the Lloyd’s Performance Management Directorate and Lloyd’s International Markets and Market Development departments.

Mel brings over 30 years of Lloyd's and London market experience to the role. During her career, she has acted as broker (Assistant Director), underwriter (Director) and independent consultant (Non-executive Director, peer reviewer).

Over the years, Mel has acted as an expert witness on many occasions, giving evidence in court and at arbitrations in London, Bermuda, the US and Scandinavia. She is a member of the ARIAS panel of arbitrators.

Mel was the first woman in Lloyd's history to be appointed as Active Underwriter of a syndicate.
