You are invited by the Joint Rig Committee and the Geological Society to attend this event on the challenges and risks faced when drilling through salt.
Richard Swarbrick (Swarbrick GreoPressure Consultancy), Ross Catto, (Engie) and Saladin Chowdhury (Shell) will cover the following:
- the importance of pre-drilling predictions - techniques and planning
- a synopsis of the drilling challenges encountered in the recent Cygnus Field campaign in the southern North Sea
- Shell’s experiences of drilling through salt in the Gulf of Mexico and how the key operational elements are managed.
Glen Cayley (Cayley Oil and Gas Advisor) will then provide a moderator’s summary of the presentations and what they may mean to insurers regarding analysis of the risks.
There will be a Q&A session in the form of a panel discussion to allow participation from the audience.
Refreshment will be served from 17.00, prior to the presentation at 17.30. This will then be followed by a drinks reception at 19.00.
