Underwriting & Claims

Mel Goddard – Market Liaison Director
Mel is responsible for high level market liaison with the
underwriting community, dealing with market wide issues as they arise.
Mel is also responsible for the relationship between the LMA
underwriting team and Lloyd’s, particularly the Franchise
Performance Directorate and International Markets and Business
Development units.

Tim Willcock - Head of Claims
Tim ensures that the interests of the Lloyd’s market claims
community is effectively represented in order to influence the
Corporation and external groups and government agencies. He
manages the proactive identification of issues and provision of
solutions to assist members’ claims activities through working
closely with project teams, committees and business panels.
Support through the LMA Claims Committee (LMACC), sector committees and
business panels helps Tim to ensure that the views and needs of market
practitioners are addressed appropriately by LMACC and the LMA
Board.

Neil Smith – Senior Manager – Underwriting
Neil has responsibility for managing the day to day activities of the
technical underwriting team at the LMA. He is responsible for
ensuring that the underwriting panels and committees are operating
effectively, and that the activities of the Panels and Committees are
properly co-ordinated. Neil has specific responsibility for
the Technical Executives who support the Marine, Aviation and
Property Committees and Panels at the LMA.

David Powell - Manager - Underwriting
David manages the LMA's technical underwriting team alongside Neil
Smith and also has specific Line Management responsibility for the
team which looks after the LMA's motor and personal lines Business

Gary Bass - Claims Consultant
Gary is responsible for ensuring that Lloyd's claims activity is
coordinated and consistent with London market requirements. He
chairs the London Market Claims Strategy Group which has equal
representation from companies, brokers and managing agents and reports
into all three associations. Gary also engages in market liaison
with the claims community and deals with market issues as they
arise.

Professional Standards

Terry Hayday - Manager Professional Standards
Terry is responsible for the Professional Standards Committees (PSC)
and its associated panels. Terry provides advice, information and
secretarial support to the PSC and represents Members' interests through
liaison with the Corporation of Lloyd's and other organisations,
including the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and the Insurance
Institute of London (IIL).

Financial & Regulatory Policy

Patricia Hakong- Head of Financial & Regulatory Policy
Patricia is primarily responsible for reviewing financial and
regulatory issues which may have a potential impact on the market,
working with Lloyd’s and others on a number of these issues and
liaising with underwriting agents as appropriate. She is
also the LMA Company Secretary.
