The LMA is governed by a Board made up of
senior market practitioners who are elected by the membership,
appointed by market sectors or co-opted for their expertise.
The Board sets the Association's priorities and is
supported by the three major policy committees – Finance,
Underwriting and Claims. Specific market sector committees support
the Underwriting Committee and a structure of specialist business panels
and advisory groups provides the market input and expert knowledge
necessary for the LMA's day-to-day work, ranging from production of
standard wordings and clauses to consultation on capital issues.
An additional four policy committees underpin the structure and address
issues faced by the whole market.
Nearly every LMA member firm contributes towards
the Association's Board and committees.
